CASA Aviation Medical Examinations

Dr John Mulholland is a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME) for CASA and provides initial and renewal medical exams for CASA Class 1,2 and 3 certificates.

Please phone reception to book your appointment and to confirm any other required tests which may include:

-ECG and hearing testing (these are performed on site at Urunga Medical Centre)

-Blood tests. Request forms can be arranged prior to your appointment and ideally performed at least 3 days prior. We do not have a pathology service on site

-The current guidelines are as below

Class 1 and Class 3 initial medicals require the following tests to be conducted (and renewals at various intervals depending on your age):

ECG’s at ages 25, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40, and then annually
Blood tests at age 25, then every five years until age 60, and then annually
Hearing test at age 25, and then every five years
Ophthalmology re-examination at age 60, and then every two years

Class 2 medicals do not require any initial or routine testing.

You are required to complete the online medical questionnaire via your log on to the CASA Medical Record System (MRS) and pay the CASA application processing fee prior to the appointment

Please allow approximately 1 hour for the appointment, which will include some initial time with a registered nurse

Fees: (inclusive of GST)

-CASA Class 1,2 or 3 initial issue and renewal: $286

-CASA Basic Class 2: $220

-ECG: $66

-Hearing test: $66

Blood tests (will incur a private cost through the pathology provider)

Other Aviation related consults: $150 per 30mins (including advice about medical conditions, medications, treatments, post-surgery recovery, specialist referrals, CASA medical clearance)

Please remember to bring:

-photo ID

-corrective glasses including spare pair and contact lenses if used

-List of medications (including prescribed and over the counter medications)

-Any medical reports/specialist letters/recent tests (particularly if ordered within the past 3 months)
